Hiking through the New South Wales Alpin Region of Thredbo early one cold winter's morning, I found the well-running stream on the Cracken Back River. I captured and composed this image using a 3-stop Polariser Filter and held the exposure for 2 minutes. The large river boulders and snow gums gave a colorful composition, with great depth and detail. The icy cold mountain cascade flows downstream from the Thredbo Ski Fields, into Lake Cracken Back. Snow falling on an icy creek is a breathtaking sight that evokes a sense of peace and tranquility. The delicate snowflakes gently float down from the sky, settling on the frozen surface of the creek, and transforming it into a pristine white canvas. As the snowflakes accumulate, the gentle sound of the creek becomes muffled, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere. The icy surface of the creek provides a perfect contrast to the softness of the snow, creating a stark and beautiful scene. The snow gums come alive and show their true texture through the icy winter haven. 6 x 17 Super Roll Film Watching the snow fall on an icy creek can transport you to a world of pure stillness, where the only sound you hear is the soft crunch of snow underfoot. It's a moment to pause, take a deep breath, and appreciate the simple beauty of nature.

There's nothing quite like a blizzard at Thredbo, where the snow gums and frozen river are transformed into a magical winter wonderland. As the snow begins to fall and the winds pick up, the landscape is transformed into a pristine winter paradise, where the snow-covered trees and frozen river create a stark yet stunning contrast against the bright white sky. Despite the biting cold and the fierce winds, there's a quiet beauty to be found in the midst of a blizzard at Thredbo. The snow-covered trees, with their gnarled and twisted trunks, stand tall and proud, creating a striking contrast against the stark white landscape. The branches, heavy with snow, create a delicate lacework against the sky, casting intricate shadows on the ground below. And then there's the frozen river, a testament to the raw power and beauty of nature. Once a lively and flowing body of water, it's now transformed into a glittering ice sculpture, with jagged icicles and frozen eddies creating a stunning visual display. The river's surface, once rippling with motion, is now frozen solid, creating a shimmering mirror that reflects the snow-covered trees and the bright blue sky above. 6 x 17 Super Roll Film

The snow at Dead Horse Gap in Thredbo is a sight to behold, creating a pristine winter wonderland that is both stunning and serene. As the snow falls gently from the sky and settles on the ground, the landscape is transformed into a sparkling winter paradise, where every surface is covered in a soft blanket of white. One of the most beautiful aspects of the snow at Dead Horse Gap is the way it creates a sense of stillness and peace. With the hustle and bustle of daily life left far behind, the quiet beauty of the snow-covered landscape takes center stage. The trees, once lush and green, are now draped in a glittering cloak of snow, creating a stark yet striking contrast against the bright blue sky. And then there's the snow itself, a work of art created by nature. As it falls from the sky and settles on the ground, it creates a delicate, intricate pattern that is both awe-inspiring and beautiful. Each snowflake is unique, and together they create a stunning tapestry of white that stretches out as far as the eye can see. 6 x 17 Super Roll Film

Snow Gums Wallace Hut | Alps Wall Art

Location: Wallace Hut, Falls Creek, Victoria Finish: Acrylic Face Mount / Diamond Polished Bevelled Edges - Ready To Hang

    20 Artist Proof / 200 Limited Edition
Nestled in Falls Creek within the Alpine National Park in the Victorian Alps wall art, Wallace Hut is the oldest surviving cattleman's hut, originally built in 1889. The rusting corrugated steel wall panels of this structure tell thousands of stories of stockmen seeking refuge from the harsh conditions seen here in the winter months. Although this shot was taken in Spring, the dew underfoot and clouds of breath in the air in front of me reminded me how grateful I was for the warmth and comfort of a heated room I had to return to. What caught my eye most was the hauntingly beautiful trunks of the surrounding snow gums, the almost pop-art pattern and colour formation of the bark on the twisting limbs creating a palette not ordinarily seen in nature. 6 x 17 Super Roll Film

Hiking through the Alpine Forest in the back of Thredbo, I came across this composition with snow falling through the valley onto the surrounding trees. Snowflakes form when water vapor in the atmosphere freezes into ice crystals, which then grow and stick together to form snowflakes. The ever-changing coloured tree trunks and cold winter's mist, made for a great composition. Fuji Velvia 50

As the snowflakes begin to fall over Thredbo, a sense of magic and wonder fills the air. The snow gums, with their stunning white bark, stand tall and proud against the falling snow, transforming the landscape into a winter wonderland of incredible beauty. The snow falls softly and gently, covering the branches and leaves of the snow gums with a layer of shimmering white. As the snowflakes collect on the branches, they create a stunning contrast against the deep green of the leaves, as if the snow and the trees are engaged in a dance of light and color. The air is filled with the peaceful sound of snow falling, a sound that seems to envelop everything in a warm and comforting embrace. The only other sounds are the occasional creaking of branches under the weight of the snow and the soft rustle of leaves as the wind blows through the trees.

Built-in 1889 by the Wallace Brothers, this hut is one of the oldest mountain huts in the Alpine National Park. Nestled amongst snow gums, the hut sits flat on the Grassy Plains. Situated in the Bogong High Plains. I captured this Classic Australian Panorama late afternoon just before the snow season had arrived. The colour temperature made for a perfect cold winter's shot. The moisture in the air was around 3 degrees, snow gums came to life with so much vibrant colours. With the temperature being so low, I could barely roll the film onto the Linhof Technorama Fuji Velvia 100
