Mount Olga, also known as Kata Tjuta, is a group of large, dome-shaped rock formations located in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park in the Northern Territory of Australia. The rock formations are sacred to the local Aboriginal people and are an important cultural and spiritual site. There are 36 individual rock formations that makeup Mount Olga, with the tallest peak, Mount Olga itself, rising to a height of 1,066 meters (3,497 feet) above sea level. The rocks are made of conglomerate, a type of sedimentary rock composed of gravel, sand, and clay that has been cemented together. Captured this iconic backdrop on twilight, with the last rays of light sweeping across a cold winter's atmosphere. Desert Storm | Arid Wall Art

Desert storms are a natural occurrence in Arid wall art regions like the Kata Tjuta National Park in central Australia. These storms, also known as dust storms, are characterized by strong winds that pick up sand and dust from the desert floor, creating a wall of dust that can obscure visibility and cause damage to property. During a desert storm, the landscape in the Kata Tjuta National Park can be transformed in a matter of minutes, with dust and sand covering everything in its path. The towering rock formations of Kata Tjuta can provide some shelter from the wind and sand, but even these ancient rocks can be eroded over time by the abrasive forces of the storm. This image I captured late afternoon of a rare Dust Storm that swept over the Olgas. I captured this using a 2 Stop Graduated Filter to add definition to the sky and balance the harsh desert foreground. I was lucky enough, to capture this rare sighting. One of the most famous shots of all time in the Kata Tjuta National Park is to capture the Domes of Mt Olga highlighted by the sun's everlasting light, just at sunset. The rays of light flashing across the horizon line only lasted a few minutes before all fading away.
