Built back in the Mid-1800s this old Sandstone Cemented Cottage was home to the gold miners who worked in the local mines in search of gold. The cottage was constructed using local materials, including timber and stone, and features a corrugated iron roof. The current owner of the property allowed me to photograph the property late afternoon. I captured this Unquie angle of the stone cottage in 6 x 17 Panorama Format.

Broken Dreams | Australian Pioneers Wall Art

Location: Burra, South Australia Finish: Acrylic Face Mount / Diamond Polished Bevelled Edges - Ready To Hang

    10 Artist Proof / 100 Limited Edition
Located on the outskirts of a town near Burra, South Australia, I found this old ruined Sandstone cottage. Colonial settler cottages are an important part of Australia's architectural history, as they represent the homes of early European settlers who arrived in Australia during the 18th and 19th centuries. These cottages were often small and simple in design, reflecting the limited resources and harsh conditions faced by early settlers. I captured this image of the ruined cottage at sunrise and wondered to myself who built this so far from any nearby civilization and who lived here. Broken Dreams, 6 x 17 Super Roll Film

The Shearer | Australian Pioneers Wall Art

Location: Mungo Shearing Shed, NSW Finish: Acrylic Face Mount / Diamond Polished Bevelled Edges - Ready To Hang

    15 Artist Proof / 150 Limited Edition
Mungo Woolshed was originally built in 1869 and still stands today in the world heritage Mungo National Park in southwestern NSW. Thought to be a dying trade skill, sheep shearers would once shear over 50,000 sheep under the roof of this woolshed when it was at its peak of activity, with enough space to accommodate up to 18 men at a time. Walking through the drop-log shed crafted from local cypress pine, the visible wear and sepia tones of the timber structures were transcendent of the rugged Aussie spirit that worked this space for many years, sweat-drenched and back-breaking. I took this shot at midday on a scorching hot day, the claustrophobia of the heat under the tin roof a reminder of the harsh conditions these workmen were subjected to. 6 x 17 Super Roll Film

Burra is a historic town located in the Mid-North region of South Australia, located just outside the town center is this old 1920s sandstone cottage. The cottage is famous for its rich history over the years and the Australian Pioneers wall art that built and lived here. I captured and composed this shot in the middle of a dry summer's day with a colour temperature in the 40s. The rolling hills of Burra in the background and the old cottage brought this image to life. I used a two-stop soft grad filter to bring the sun-drenched blue sky into balance with the dry wheat grass in the foreground. Classic Australian Landscape Image Capture 6 x17 Fuji Velvia 100

Pioneer Dreams | Australian Pioneers Wall Art

Location: Burra, South Australia Finish: Acrylic Face Mount / Diamond Polished Bevelled Edges - Ready To Hang

    20 Artist Proof / 200 Limited Edition
Burra is a historic town located in the mid-north region of South Australia. It was founded in 1845 after copper was discovered in the area and quickly grew into a thriving mining town. The cottage is famous for its rich history over the years and the Australian Pioneers wall art that built and lived here. I wanted to capture this remarkable old cottage at dusk to show a different view most people don't see. Just after sunset everything changes, the texture of the rich dry wheat grass, shadowed rolling hills, and the sky lit with purple pastel hues that make way for the faint full moon making its way through the horizon.
