Photography is a form of Art and I’m constantly pushing the boundaries, on what I can do with my Camera in Mother Nature. I use an in-camera stacking technique and filters to capture the natural landscape, like a brushed oil painting.  The beauty of a landscape painted like an oil painting is that it captures a moment in time and makes it timeless. It is a snapshot of a world that is both peaceful and awe-inspiring. And just like a painting, it can evoke a sense of wonder and inspiration that transcends time and place.

Kata Tjuta Country | Classic Australian Bush Wall Art

Location: Kata Tjuta National Park, Northern Territory Finish: Acrylic Face Mount / Diamond Polished Bevelled Edges - Ready To Hang

    15 Artist Proof / 150 Limited Edition
Kata Tjuta, also known as the Olgas, is a breathtaking natural wonder located in the heart of Australia's Red Centre. The towering rock formations that makeup Kata Tjuta is a sight to behold, rising up from the desert floor like sentinels guarding the land. But perhaps even more awe-inspiring than the physical beauty of this place is the rich indigenous culture that has been intertwined with it for thousands of years. For the Anangu people, who are the traditional owners of this land, Kata Tjuta is a sacred site of immense cultural significance. According to their creation stories, the rocks of Kata Tjuta were formed by the travels and exploits of ancestral beings, and the land is imbued with their spiritual energy. Visitors to the area are encouraged to learn about and respect the Anangu culture, and to appreciate the deep connections that they have with this land. One of the most important aspects of Anangu culture is its deep respect for the natural world. For them, the land and its inhabitants are not separate entities, but rather interconnected parts of a larger whole. This holistic worldview is reflected in their traditional practices, such as hunting and gathering, which are done with great care and consideration for the environment. Visitors to Kata Tjuta have the opportunity to learn about Anangu culture through guided tours and cultural experiences, such as bush tucker walks, traditional dance performances, and storytelling sessions. These experiences offer a glimpse into the rich and diverse history of the Anangu people, and a chance to gain a deeper appreciation for the land and its significance. Kata Tjuta Twilight | Classic Australian Bush Wall Art

Location: Kata Tjuta National Park, Northern Territory Finish: Acrylic Face Mount / Diamond Polished Bevelled Edges - Ready To Hang

    15 Artist Proof / 150 Limited Edition
After days of scouting for new angles of the Olgas, I mapped out this composition with the Desert Oaks. Kata Tjuṯa, also known as the Olgas, is a group of large, ancient rock formations located in the Red Centre of Australia, in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The name Kata Tjuṯa means "many heads" in the local Pitjantjatjara language, and the site is of great cultural and spiritual significance to the Anangu people, the traditional custodians of the land. Kata Tjuṯa is made up of 36 steep-sided domes that rise up to 546 meters above the surrounding desert landscape. The rock formations are composed of conglomerate, a sedimentary rock made up of pebbles and boulders cemented together by sand and mud. I waited several days before I got the colour I wanted on Twilight, I captured this unique panorama deep in the Kata Tjuta scrub country. Photographed in 6 x 17 Super Roll Film on Fuji Velvia 100. With the cold winter's desert temperature dropping to only 6 degrees, I held the exposure on twilight for 1 minute and then double exposed a second time for greater colour depth. Mulga Gums | Classic Australian Bush Wall Art

Location: Bourke, NSW Finish: Acrylic Face Mount / Diamond Polished Bevelled Edges - Ready To Hang

    10 Artist Proof / 100 Limited Edition
The Mulga tree, also known as Acacia Aneura, is a common sight in the Bourke region of New South Wales and is a beloved and iconic symbol of the Australian outback. These hardy trees are perfectly adapted to thrive in the harsh and unforgiving desert environment, with deep roots that can tap into underground water sources and a tough exterior that protects them from the scorching heat. Despite their rugged appearance, there is a subtle beauty to the Mulga trees that dot the landscape around Bourke. Their branches twist and curl in intricate patterns, casting elegant shadows on the ground below. When the sun sets, the trees take on a warm, golden glow, as if they are lit from within. The dry river bed of the Mulga Creek in Bourke, NSW may seem desolate at first glance, but upon closer inspection, there is a subtle beauty to be found in its rugged terrain. The sand and rocks that line the bed of the creek are weathered and worn, their surfaces etched with intricate patterns and textures that tell the story of millions of years of geological activity. 6 x 17 Super Roll Film

The Mundi Plains | Classic Australian Bush Wall Art

Location: The Mundi Mundi Plains, Silverton, NSW Finish: Acrylic Face Mount / Diamond Polished Bevelled Edges - Ready To Hang

    15 Artist Proof / 150 Limited Edition
Mundi Mundi Plains is a vast, flat plain located in the far west of New South Wales, Australia, approximately 20 kilometers from the city of Broken Hill. It is a significant landmark in the region and is known for its stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The Mundi Mundi Plains is situated on a high plateau, which rises up to over 500 meters above sea level. From this vantage point, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the rugged desert landscape, with its rocky outcrops, dry creek beds, and sparse vegetation. The Mundi Mundi Plains are also famous for their role in the filming of the iconic Australian movie "Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior". The vast, flat expanse of the plains made it the perfect location for the movie's climactic chase scenes, which were filmed here in the early 1980s Film Prop for an old Coca-Cola ad campaign, this old hotel still stands after years of bulls dust, and wind storms. Captured and composed this image on Twilight. 6 x 17 Super Roll Film

Kata Tjuta | Classic Australian Bush Wall Art

Location: Kata Tjuta, Northern Territory Finish: Acrylic Face Mount / Diamond Polished Bevelled Edges - Ready To Hang

    15 Artist Proof / 150 Limited Edition
Kata Tjuta, or as it's also referred to as 'The Olgas', is a collection of soaring rock domes jutting out from the earth, located in the Red Centre of Australia, southwest of Alice Springs, NT. Meaning 'many heads' Kata Tjuta is sacred to the local Anangu people, holding significant importance to their spiritual life. What's most magical about this cultural landmark is the way it reflects the changing light from the landscape and sky around it, with no two moments in time looking the same. I captured this shot at sunrise just as the sky had turned to beautiful pink and purple, highlighting the natural minerals present in the rock, contrasted vibrantly against the deep greens of the outback vegetation. A sight in nature truly to behold. 6 x 17 Super Roll Film

Broken Dreams | Classic Australian Bush Wall Art

Location: Burra, South Australia Finish: Acrylic Face Mount / Diamond Polished Bevelled Edges - Ready To Hang

    10 Artist Proof / 100 Limited Edition
Located on the outskirts of a town near Burra, South Australia, I found this old ruined Sandstone cottage. Colonial settler cottages are an important part of Australia's architectural history, as they represent the homes of early European settlers who arrived in Australia during the 18th and 19th centuries. These cottages were often small and simple in design, reflecting the limited resources and harsh conditions faced by early settlers. I captured this image of the ruined cottage at sunrise and wondered to myself who built this so far from any nearby civilization and who lived here. Broken Dreams, 6 x 17 Super Roll Film

Painted Skies | Classic Australian Bush Wall Art

    20 Artist Proof / 200 Limited Edition
Vibrant reds and deep purples are usually reserved for species in nature we might see in the suburban garden but out here in Kata Tjuta National Park in the Northern Territory, they are just part of the landscape. And it's a landscape like no other in the world. Like sleeping giants in the distance rousing from their peaceful slumber, these rock formations take on an array of hues as the sun slowly rises, highlighting the curves, juts, and valleys between like limbs on a body. There is something spiritual about this place, as if mother nature herself had painted a scene just for you, demanding a quiet moment to pause, reflect and let her natural wonder embrace you with her incredible wondrousness. Dad's Truck is a 1940 D4 International, put to rest backing the late 1960s. These iconic Australian images show the history of how life would have been in earlier days in Australia. This image was captured and composed on a mate's working Cattle station, with the old shearing shed in the background. Corronga Peak Station was once a thriving place, south of Bourke, NSW back in the 1950s. This image was photographed early one cold winter morning. 6 x17 Super Roll Film

An outback billabong is a waterhole or pond that is typically found in the arid regions of Australia. These waterholes are often fed by seasonal rains and are an important source of water for both wildlife and people living in the remote areas of the outback. Billabongs are usually surrounded by a diverse range of vegetation, including tall grasses, eucalyptus trees, and other native plants. They are home to a wide variety of aquatic plants and animals, including fish, turtles, frogs, and birds. The water in Billabongs is often clear and still, creating a tranquil and peaceful environment in the middle of the harsh outback landscape. Captured this Classic Australian Outback Billabong early one morning, with the surrounding Mulga Gums reflecting off the water's edge. The stillness of the water in the Billabong gave this image a mirror-like finish. I held the exposure for 3 minutes with a 2 Stop Polariser Filter. Fuji Velvia 100. 6 x 17 Super Roll Film

    20 Artist Proof / 200 Limited Edition
Standing on the banks of Lake Victoria in the middle of Summer. With the temperature already over thirty degrees, I managed to capture this angle of the silhouetted trees on the edge of the lake. The purple and yellow hues on dawn made for a great composition, I held the exposure for over five minutes on film to produce this stunning Landscape. The woodlots & wetlands spread for miles, making Lake Victoria one of the best places to visit in western New South Wales. 90mm Super Angulon 6 x 17 Linhof Technorama

Burra is a historic town located in the Mid-North region of South Australia, located just outside the town center is this old 1920s sandstone cottage. The cottage is famous for its rich history over the years and the Australian Pioneers that built and lived here. I captured and composed this shot in the middle of a dry summer's day with a colour temperature in the 40s. The rolling hills of Burra in the background and the old cottage brought this image to life. I used a two-stop soft grad filter to bring the sun-drenched blue sky into balance with the dry wheat grass in the foreground. Classic Australian Landscape Image Capture 6 x17 Fuji Velvia 100

Burra is a historic town located in the mid-north region of South Australia. It was founded in 1845 after copper was discovered in the area and quickly grew into a thriving mining town. The cottage is famous for its rich history over the years and the Australian Pioneers that built and lived here. I wanted to capture this remarkable old cottage at dusk to show a different view most people don't see. Just after sunset everything changes, the texture of the rich dry wheat grass, shadowed rolling hills, and the sky lit with purple pastel hues that make way for the faint full moon making its way through the horizon.
