Mark Zissis is an Australian Photographer known for his vibrant, landscape wall art, often featuring the colour orange. His work typically explores colour, form, and texture, drawing inspiration from the natural environment and urban landscapes. Here are some notable aspects of how he uses orange in his art. Dominant Orange Palettes, Zissis frequently uses shades of orange as the dominant colour in his pieces, creating a sense of warmth and energy. The orange hues range from deep, burnt tones to bright, fiery shades, giving each piece a dynamic and lively feel. Layered Textures: His works often feature layered textures, where orange is layered over or under other colours, such as blues, yellows, or greens, creating depth and complexity. The interplay of textures and colours adds a tactile quality to his images. The Australian Outback, with its iconic orange hues, is a striking representation of the country's vast, rugged, and untamed interior. The colour orange is prominently featured in the landscape due to the iron-rich soils and rocks that dominate the terrain, creating a warm and vibrant palette that is instantly recognisable.

Photography is a form of Art and I’m constantly pushing the boundaries, on what I can do with my Camera in Mother Nature. I use an in-camera stacking technique and filters to capture the natural landscape, like a brushed oil painting. The beauty of a landscape painted like an oil painting is that it captures a moment in time and makes it timeless. It is a snapshot of a world that is both peaceful and awe-inspiring. And just like a painting, it can evoke a sense of wonder and inspiration that transcends time and place.

While the aftermath of a bushfire can be devastating and heartbreaking, there can also be beauty and resilience in the regrowth and recovery of the landscape. In the burnt bush of Outback NSW, there can be a sense of stillness and quietness that is unique to the post-fire environment. The charred remains of trees and bushes can create a striking contrast against the blue sky, and the blackened earth can reveal the intricate patterns of the terrain. As time passes, green shoots can emerge from the scorched earth, signaling the start of a new growth cycle. The burnt bush can provide a canvas for a vibrant burst of wildflowers, and the returning birds and animals can bring a sense of hope and renewal to the landscape.

There's something truly awe-inspiring about an old gum tree that has stood the test of time, its trunk twisted and gnarled by the forces of nature. When such a tree grows over the wild bush scrub, it seems to take on a special significance, as if it's guarding and watching over the land it has called home for so many years. As you walk through the bush, the old gum tree stands out, its towering presence a testament to the resilience and strength of nature. Its overhanging branches offer shelter to the wildlife below, providing a home for birds and other small creatures. The tree seems to be part of the fabric of the landscape, rooted in the earth and connected to the world around it.

Hiking through the New South Wales Alpin Region of Thredbo early one cold winter's morning, I found the well-running stream on the Cracken Back River. I captured and composed this image using a 3-stop Polariser Filter and held the exposure for 2 minutes. The large river boulders and snow gums gave a colorful composition, with great depth and detail. The icy cold mountain cascade flows downstream from the Thredbo Ski Fields, into Lake Cracken Back. As I stood in awe of the stunning vista before me, I felt a sense of reverence for the beauty and grandeur of nature. The ancient rocks seemed to carry with them a sense of history and wisdom, a reminder of the passage of time and the constancy of change. It was a call to live in the present moment, cherish each passing day, and find solace in the enduring beauty of the world around us. As the last rays of the sun dipped below the horizon, the sky was awash with a deep shade of purple, and the ancient rocks were shrouded in a mysterious, almost mystical light.
