Snow Gums Wallace Hut | Pioneer Wall Art

Location: Wallace Hut, Falls Creek, Victoria Finish: Acrylic Face Mount / Diamond Polished Bevelled Edges - Ready To Hang

    20 Artist Proof / 200 Limited Edition
Nestled in Falls Creek within the Alpine National Park in the Victorian Alps, Wallace Hut is the oldest surviving cattleman's hut, originally built in 1889. The rusting corrugated steel wall panels of this structure tell thousands of stories of stockmen seeking refuge from the harsh conditions seen here in the winter months. Although this shot was taken in Spring, the dew underfoot and clouds of breath in the air in front of me reminded me how grateful I was for the warmth and comfort of a heated room I had to return to. What caught my eye most was the hauntingly beautiful trunks of the surrounding snow gums, the almost pop-art pattern and colour formation of the bark on the twisting limbs creating a palette not ordinarily seen in nature. 6 x 17 Super Roll Film

As the sun begins to dip below the horizon, the sky above Burra, South Australia transforms into a canvas of fiery purple and pinks, casting a warm and inviting glow across the landscape. The colors of the sunset seem to dance across the sky, painting the clouds in vibrant shades of gold and crimson, and turning the sky into a work of art. As the last rays of sunlight filter through the wheat grass, they cast long shadows across the landscape, highlighting the beauty of the rolling hills and the lush fields that stretch out before you. Built-in 1889 by the Wallace Brothers, this hut is one of the oldest mountain huts in the Alpine National Park. Nestled amongst snow gums, the hut sits flat on the Grassy Plains. Situated in the Bogong High Plains. I captured this Classic Australian Panorama late afternoon just before the snow season had arrived. The colour temperature made for a perfect cold winter's shot. The moisture in the air was around 3 degrees, snow gums came to life with so much vibrant colours. With the temperature being so low, I could barely roll the film onto the Linhof Technorama Fuji Velvia 100
